Join Invisible Institute for a free community screening of Sawyer Avenue, Sunday Afternoon, a film about surveillance, accountability, and the fight for community control. The film documents an immigration enforcement action in Albany Park and the neighborhood’s response.
Following the screening, miz will moderate a conversation with Rey Wences of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Antonio Gutierrez of Organized Communities Against Deportations, and Gabe, an Albany Park neighbor featured in the film. Together, they will reflect on rapid-response organizing, how this moment differs from the one captured in the film, and what communities need as federal enforcement tactics continue to evolve.
The screening is free and open to all.
